Since opening its doors in 1995, Briarcrest Cleaners has focused their efforts on providing our community with the best customer service, a quality product, and a solid commitment to doing things right the first time.  It’s that spirit and commitment that has seen them voted the “Best Dry Cleaning Service” in the Brazos Valley for the third time. 

Terry Wichkoski always had a dream of owning his own dry cleaning business, and he knew that commitment to a customer-first philosophy would spell success.  Terry launched Briarcrest Cleaners and was well on his way to providing his success when, after just two years in business, Terry suddenly died of coronary artery disease.  Facing a number of daunting challenges, Terry’s wife, Michelle, decided to leave her job at Texas A&M University, roll up her sleeves and go to work keeping Terry’s dream alive.  Michelle knew that by maintaining Terry’s commitment to excellent customer service and attention to detail, Briarcrest Cleaners would continue to thrive.

In 2000, Michelle married Shaun Winder, who quickly took on the role of running the dry cleaning business.  “We couldn’t do it without Shaun,” says Michelle.  “He can go straight from repairing a complicated piece of equipment in the back, right up to the front counter to visit with a customer.”  Shaun and Michelle attribute their continued success in part of their wonderful staff.  “We also couldn’t do it without our staff,” continues Michelle.  “We have several girls who have been with us since we opened our doors.  They are a very dedicated and hard-working team!”  They currently have a team of 24 employees, many of whom have been greeting customers from behind the counter for quite some time.  “We’ve got such a loyal customer-base, who have been coming to us for so long, that many of them have also become our friends,” says Shaun. 

Since opening their original location on Briarcrest Drive, across from Bryan High School, Shaun and Michelle have expanded to two additional locations, one in the Brazos Valley Bank building on Braham Road at Highway 6, and another on Boonville Road just at the Copperfield entrance.  They’ve recently upgraded their credit card processing system to a new handheld device that will keep their drive-thru customers from ever losing sight of their credit  card, something the owners know is important in protecting their customers from identity theft. 

Michelle and Shaun have also maintained a strong commitment to their local community, by supporting organizations and events such as the Brazos County Youth Livestock Show, St. Joseph’s Spirit of Women, Brazos Valley Go Texan, and the College Station Medical Center’s Healthy Women program.  Briarcrest Cleaners also provides free cleaning services to a number of groups in special situations, like the Adult Learning Center’s robes for their annual graduation ceremonies.
